Crept

"Pretty cool, yes."

submission: Crept
date: October 22, 2006

It is pretty cool. Saying that doesn't give too good an impression, though. Now, what's wrong with the portal today, I'm actually seeing some good submissions. the story was shortish but good. I'd suggest adding a random pumpkin somewhere to make it more halloween-ish, but it is good as it is. The font you use is really cool, only a bit hard to read sometimes, what is it? I disagree with the previous reviewer, the sound is really awesome, it fits perfectly. Graphics were good, but the judge whatever was just not. The style is okay, next time just don't use madness. Anyway I really liked the fast transitions and the "I'm not crazy" texts. That's sort of humor, but gave 0 for humor, because it wasn't that kind of humor.

Overall great, 4/5, 9/10.

The Queasy Chronicles

"Great."

date: October 22, 2006

Great work, I'm not absolutely sure is it a 9 or ten, but ten this time. It's nice to see something really worth protecting in the Portal for a while. You have a good story, I think I might have missed something because it, especially the voices were too fast, subtitles would have been nice, but not essential. Story was really nice, not maybe a great mystery, a bit too fast-paced, but I'd like to see more of this.
Voices were good, maybe there should have been a distinction (is that the word) between Queasy's actual speech and thoughts, would have made it clearer.
The style is awesome. Just great. The graphics were good, some places could have been smoother. The lip syncing seemed to be a bit off at times, but that's no big problem.
Overall great work, I definitely want to see more. 5/5

Take A Bow

"Very good."

submission: Take A Bow
date: September 22, 2006

I never knew I liked Muse this much. Good taste in music is a big plus. Oh, maybe I shouldn't be prejudiced, but anyway. that's full marks on sound. I would have liked a play button in the beginning, when I'm waiting for something any bigger to load I usually do something else as well, so it isn't that nice if it just starts playing by itself. But that's just a minor detail anyway, and a replay button is good. A good detail was that the song's name showed there if not all the time at least for enough.

The beginning was a little boring, I didn't understand it the first time I watched, but now I do. The plot is good enough, I'm totally crap in listening words out of songs (if they're not in Finnish), but what I heard seemed to fit too. I can't be bothered to search the lyrics, sorry. Timing seemed perfect, great. My computer is not that new or fast but it still ran good with high quality, I didn't even notice the warning before I'd watched the movie.

Graphics were some of a problem to rate: the town is just awesome whatever you did it with, looked really realistic with perspective and all. Backgrounds were good too, but the people were not. Style was alright, I didn't much like it, but anyway. And the animation was really smooth, all those running people looked natural. I liked the missile too, the flames especially. And the things in the beginning were good. I ended up with a 7 for both style and graphics, that's my "ok grade".

Overall you've got a great song (a question of opinion), a working plot, ok graphics, great animation and there. The whatever "remember our soldiers" was really good. I can't give 10/10 for the graphics, but this was still really good. Five out of five, be happy.

"Awesome."

submission: 3pm-157
date: August 26, 2006

This was totally awesome, really. Only thing wrong was that there was no preloader and it looped. Argh. The "a cute film" thing was a great idea, and the film was cute indeed. It was a little short, but it was all that was needed. The story itself wasn't that impressive maybe, but it was good enough and went well together with the animation style.

The graphics and style were awesome. The style was just cute. The animation was smooth, the backgrounds were good, the characters as well. I liked the expressions in particular. The music was awesome, it fit really well. The voices were a tiny bit unclear in places, but then, I'm not too good in interpreting voices.

Overall I really have only the minor complaint of looping. It's annoying, but who cares. This was and is still awesome. 5/5

Strain your Eyes: TWSM

"I've seen something even smaller..."

date: August 25, 2006

...but that was on clock day. Overall quite nice idea, the endings too, but this isn't that great.

Good:
-Sounds. Really liked the music, just awesome.
-Many endings, totally great. You could only have put the choosing screen a bit later, wasn't there in every one "I'm sick of you fighting!"?
-Humor, sure. Though I didn't have to strain my eyes, really.

Bad:
-Storyline. Well, at least there was one, but it was just so basic, nothing original.
-Style and graphics, well, they weren't exactly bad, but a bit below par.

Overall: Almost everything was ok, that would have made this not really good. The different endings and small size were a plus, so overall not bad.

Author's Response:

I actually made the flash about half the size it shows on NG. On here its about 200 x 400 whereas its actually made at 100 x 200. That idea didn't quite work as planned. I'm glad you liked it at least and if I make another I know what I have to change.

Come Sit Down

"Well I liked it."

submission: Come Sit Down
date: August 25, 2006

I really really liked this. It was a bit better when I first saw it, really saved my day then, but I didn't have time to review it then. At the second wathing it wasn't that good, but I like it still. The story was nice, I understood it, but, as this is Newgrounds, I quite undrstand why some people don't... But it was really nice. the whole movie was quite short,

The style was good, fit with the story. Graphics were not that great, there was too much of that what-ever-it's-called fuzzy thing, or not maybe too much, but in a wrong way. I didn't realize that he was sitting on a fence, first I thought it was ground, then it looked like some animal (some big striped animal). But I liked the face and expressions, and the background.

The sound was quite good, but again that what-ever fuzziness (there's a better word for it, I know, I just can't recall it now) was a bit too loud.

Overall good, liked it, 4/5.

Cour&hisGang#1

"Good, but had some glitches."

submission: Cour&hisGang#1
date: August 18, 2006

A pity you missed Clock Day, but this got today a lot more attention from me today than on actual clock day. You don't see clock movies that much in the portal otherwise. Overall I quite like clocks, this wasn't an exception. Story, a bit short maybe, the random thingy in the middle was really good, not really that original, quite standard clock-ish thing. You seem to have changed the preloader, first time I watched it was "Clock day 06", now it's just clock crew.

Graphics were mostly good, style as well, but there were some quite annoying glitches: the subtitle bar or whatever was in some place a bit too much right, so what was below showed as a line, and in the very beginning there was a white line as well. Or I can't really explain, but hope you get the idea. Graphics could be a little better anyway, the car in particular.

Sounds were good, the first music was a bit strange, and some music would have been good in the "Courgette Clock Presents" part too. Voices were standard, but you get a big plus from subtitles (I can't always understand what is said, I'm Finnish). Another good thing was the handclaps. Liked that.

Humor - yeah, there was. Violence, well in a way not actual but anyway. Interactivity, preloader. The credits were a little too fast, and the music stopped too abruptly. And I don't like thanking yourself ten times. Overall, good, almost worthy for a 9/10, glitches dropped it down. I suppose you were quite in a hurry.

And no, I don't think I'll join the Clock Crew.

Author's Response:

lol yeah I changed the loader and with that I fixed the glich with the subbar ( I think ).

also I know the car sucked, I suck at cars.

anyway thanks for the review.
helpfull for a change

A Day At The Park

"Good though short."

submission: A Day At The Park
date: August 10, 2006

Hehe, nice idea and funny movie, a ten for humor for sure. Yeah, people blame their problems on anything but themselves, and anything fun is going to be outlawed in the near future. Good point, though for me this was more a short and funny movie than anything else.

Style was just about perfect. Graphics were really good too, there weren't too many details but that was was just fine. The scenes might have been longer, some scenes just were over really quickly, a bit too quick even. Sounds were alright, I would have liked some explosion sounds.

Overall, nice little movie, 8/10, 4/5.

LL - WoW killing spree

"Got it saved."

date: August 9, 2006

Heh, I was the saviour. I think that was the third time I've seen the saviour movie. Seems that the first two reviewers are either lock or clay haters, or both. I'm not a great fan of claymation (probably because the first ones I saw were total crap), though I've made some myself, but I certainly do like locks. First time I've seen a lock (or clock, or anything like that) claymation.

I can't say reallyanything about the animation, I don't really know anything about clay, but I've certainly seen much worse. Style is ok, but I don't really like locks and clay combined. Sound was ok too. There wasn't much story and the whole movie was short but who cares.

Overall, certainly no classic. Not really too good, but just something makes it 7/10 instead of 6. I like it.

GAMEOVER! - The Game

"Confusing"

date: August 9, 2006

I didn't really get the idea of the game, first I supposed you had to burst them in a specific order, and then I didn't really know what to think, it was really weird. I think the idea was fairly good, only write better instructions or make a tutorial level, I think some kind of tutorial would've been really, really helpful. You said you couldn't yourself beat it, please make games that are possible, at least. And the menu buttons, please make the hit area larger. That lowers your interactivity quite a lot.

Music was really awesome, Some sound effects might have been nice, e.g. for the end of a level, but no blasts were needed. Graphics were quite good, puzzle-style games don't need that awesome graphics. They could have been better though, gray boxes are boring. Same goes for style.

Overall, has potential, but better instructions and buttons are needed.
